SNC-LAVALIN AWARDED DESIGN/BUILD CONTRACT FOR CALGARY LRT EXTENSION PROJECT
SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract to design, build and do the procurement for the City of Calgary West Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Extension Project.
The project consists of an eight-kilometre extension to the Calgary LRT Transit System between 11th Street SW, in the downtown area, to 69th Street SW in the western part of the City. Included in the scope of work are six passenger stations, nine traction power substations, a major highway interchange, two park-and-ride facilities, a four-storey office building and associated road works.
“We are pleased to have been awarded this major project to expand Calgary’s transport infrastructure,” said Jim Burke, Executive Vice-President, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. “SNC-Lavalin has significant expertise in delivering complete rapid transit solutions worldwide, most recently on the Canada Line project in Vancouver, and we look forward to working with the City of Calgary to deliver an all-Canadian solution for this project”.
Work will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by December 2012.
