SNC-LAVALIN AWARDED CONTRACT FOR FILTRATION PROJECT
Pacific Liaicon and Associates Inc., a subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin Inc., has been awarded a contract for nearly $4 million by the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) for work on one of the world’s largest greenfield filter plants.
Pacific Liaicon will provide project management services for the definition and design of the Capilano and Seymour Filtration Project. The project involves the construction of an 18,000 horsepower high lift pump station, twin 7.5-kilometre water conveyance tunnels and a 2,000-megalitre-per-day filtration plant for the treatment of water from the Capilano and Seymour reservoirs in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Construction is expected to begin in early 2004 and is scheduled to be completed in 2007.
Pacific Liaicon has been working for the last seven years with the GVRD on a regional Drinking Water Treatment Program to improve water quality for the nearly two million people living in Greater Vancouver.
“We see this new contract as a natural extension of the previous work done for this client,” said Pacific Liaicon Vice President of Project Services and Project Director, Brian Gardner, “We are pleased to see such a significant project proceed, and are confident it will greatly benefit the Vancouver region.”
