SNC-LAVALIN’S POSITION REGARDING THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF RIADH BEN AISSA’S ARREST - NOT PUT ON THE WIRE

Montreal | April 29, 2012
It has been confirmed to SNC-Lavalin that its former Executive Vice-President, Riadh Ben Aissa, has been placed under arrest in Switzerland. However, we have no knowledge regarding specific details concerning his status, and reiterates that he left the company on February 9, 2012. If crimes have been committed by Mr. Ben Aissa or any other former employee, the Company believes that they should be held accountable.

SNC-Lavalin is committed to cooperating fully with any authorities that request its assistance in resolving the issues being investigated. As there is an RCMP investigation currently underway, we are limited in how much it can discuss publicly. Our efforts are focused on satisfactorily and definitively resolving all issues that have surfaced prior to the announcements of March 26, 2012.

SNC-Lavalin is doing its utmost and has offered its complete cooperation to the authorities in order to obtain the answers required about situations concerning ex-employees as expeditiously as possible. We reconfirm that we voluntarily and proactively turned the results of our internal investigation over to the authorities.
