SNC-LAVALIN ATP AWARDED CONTRACT TO BUILD FOUR NEW SUBSTATIONS

Calgary | November 3, 2005

SNC-Lavalin ATP Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., has been awarded a lump sum turnkey contract, valued at approximately CDN$40 million, by the British Columbia Transmission Corporation (BCTC) to design and build four electrical transmission substations in the province of British Columbia.

The project involves the design, procurement and construction of substations at locations in Fort St. John, Whistler, Maple Ridge and Port Kells, ranging in voltage from 69/25 kV to 230/25 kV. BCTC is responsible for planning, maintaining and operating the transmission system in British Columbia as a separate and independent public utility. This is the first substation project that BCTC has outsourced since its formation in 2003.

“SNC-Lavalin ATP has earned an excellent reputation for its engineering, procurement and construction work in the electrical transmission sector, primarily in Alberta, and we are proud BCTC chose us for its first outsourced project,” said Klaus Triendl, Executive Vice-President, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.

The new substations will help meet an increased demand for electrical power in the four areas where they will be located.

“The project will follow an ambitious timeline,” said Cindy Andrew, Vice-President of SNC-Lavalin ATP Inc., “Design will begin immediately, and all four substations will be providing reliable electrical service to their respective communities before the end of 2006.”
