SNC-Lavalin Engineers & Constructors Inc. is set to begin work on the decommissioning and reclamation of the Polaris Mine in the Canadian High Arctic for TeckCominco . The ship carrying the heavy equipment required for the project leaves the Port of Montreal today, bound for the mine site. Work on the project is scheduled to begin in early September and will be completed in October 2004.

SNC-Lavalin today reported growth in net income, backlog and revenues at the end of the second quarter.

A joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Al-Hassan Engineering Co. S.A.O.G., of Ruwi, Sultanate of Oman has been awarded a contract by Petroleum Development Oman L.L.C. for the turnkey design and construction and first year of operational support of the Saih Nihayda Gas Plant (SNGP) in Oman. The fixed price contract signed today is valued at approximately US $115 million.

The Board of Directors of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. has filed notice to renew for a twelve-month period its normal course issuer bid, which will expire on June 7, 2002. In the notice, the Corporation states its intention to purchase for cancellation up to a maximum of 4,112,000 Common Shares of the Corporation, representing less than 10% of the public float of Common Shares.
