SNC-Lavalin has over 90 years of experience in designing and managing projects of every size and complexity. It is internationally recognized as one of the world's foremost project managers, combining quality and safety with efficiency and cost-effectiveness. A key factor in SNC-Lavalin's success in this field is its interactive project management software system, PM+, which allows authorized parties both on-site and remote access to a cumulative database of project information.
In 2001, SNC-Lavalin and its South African partner were presented with the Project Management Institute (PMI)'s Project of the Year Award for their management of the Mozal Aluminum Smelter Project in Mozambique. Every aspect of the Project's management, from efficiency of operations to commitment to the local community, was taken into account in PMI's assessment process. The Project was completed six months ahead of schedule and $100 million under-budget, in spite of delays caused by a lack of public infrastructure, poor geo-technical conditions and a bout of torrential flooding.
