Environment & Water

SNC-Lavalin has one of the most comprehensive environmental and water engineering and consulting teams with hundreds of specialists the world over. Our expertise spans the entire project life cycle from project initiation, planning and engineering, to construction, operations and decommissioning.

We seek partnerships between industry, government and communities to deliver sustainable solutions for all stakeholders of a project. We work with industry to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, we provide advice and technical assistance to governments, and we involve communities through effective consultation processes. Our portfolio includes thousands of environmental projects for clients in sectors as diverse as power, government, forestry, mining, petroleum, petrochemicals, organic chemicals, metal processing and road, rail and air transportation, as well as for developers and financiers.

We use an integrated approach to achieve environmental responsibility, social equity and economic efficiency in all phases of the project life cycle. This triple bottom line approach to sustainability strengthens the technical and financial performance of the project. Our innovative approach works to find a balance between economic development and environmental considerations to drive optimized solutions to the benefit of the larger community. Our project management processes also ensure these projects are delivered in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

Formerly home to shipyards, sawmills and other industrial facilities, the City is redeveloping the area into a mixed-use community, including the Athlete's Village for the 2010 Olympics. Client: City of Vancouver

Dockside Green

British Columbia's Dockside Green is the first master planned community ever to target LEED Platinum certification for environmental sustainability. It is being built on a previously contaminated site, which we had originally assessed to establish risk-based criteria for development. We are now working with the developer during construction to ensure an effective risk management strategy is followed. Client: Dockside Green Partnerships Limited
