Projects Contacts

Concentrated Solar Power Demonstration Plant

Solar Two, in Barstow, California, is a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) demonstration plant funded by the US Department of Energy. It uses molten salt to store energy thermally for subsequent electrical energy production. SNC-Lavalin worked as the owner's engineer to support SolarReserve in the development and deployment of this dispatchable "solar-on-demand" technology in utility scale power plants.

Modernization of Structures at the Beauharnois Complex

The Beauharnois hydroelectric complex is located downstream of the Beauharnois Canal, some 60 km southwest of Montreal. The plant was built in three phases, commissioned respectively in 1932, 1950 and 1959. The three run-of-river plants have integrated intakes and a total installed capacity of 1,574 MW. Modernization includes establishing scope of work, structural analysis, modelling and simulation of concrete swelling, rehabilitation alternatives, analysis of all components to establish their rehabilitation needs and selection of solutions. Client: Hydro-Québec

Bruce Power: Bruce A Units 1 & 2 Balance of Plant Refurbishment

In 2006, SNC-Lavalin Nuclear started the Balance of Plant (BOP) refurbishment of Units 1 & 2 at the Bruce Power Plant. SNC-Lavalin Nuclear prepared a project execution plan, ALARA plan, project-specific quality assurance program and site safety plan. SNC-Lavalin Nuclear undertook engineering, design, procurement, supply of craft labour, project management, construction and project closeout services on work packages that included design, fabrication, procurement, testing (including NDE), and installation of certain new or refurbished major equipment, systems and components. Also, SNC-Lavalin Nuclear performed project management services including planning, scheduling and cost control, contract administration, resident engineering, site construction work management and commissioning support.

Southeastern Europe Electrical System

SNC-Lavalin, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA),  supported countries in the Balkan Region to improve the management, delivery and rational use of electricity in the Balkan Region. The project was completed through a series of work plans organized by the following areas: regional market development and activities, energy strategies, policies and sector organization, power regulation, power systems operation and organization, environmental activities and human resources development. Region: Southeastern Europe
