SNC-Lavalin's technologists design projects to make optimum use of material and personnel. Bio-safety precautions are integrated in the preliminary stages of a project, as are the decontamination of all air locks and equipment. Automation is used wherever possible to reduce the risk of cross contamination with support equipment.

Cell Banking Facility
Provided construction management for a Class 10,000 and Class 10,000 GMP space for Cell Banking and Cell Sorting. The facility also included a non-GMP research and development area. Separate air handling systems and separate PLC BAS control systems serve both the GMP and non-GMP spaces.SCADA alarm systems were incorporated into each BAS system to monitor the environment of all lab equipment. Utility systems included CO2, O2, N2, lab vacuum, and USP water systems. Client: Centocor

Pilot Plant
The SNC-Lavalin team has worked on multiple projects for Centocor, Inc. at their Malvern, PA facility. The projects included engineering, construction management, and commissioning assignments. The team provided design and construction services for a 3,000 sq.ft GMP pilot plant within an existing building.The project incorporated a Class 100,000 clean room environment (supported by a new, 8,000 SCFM roof top AHU system with room HEPA filters), USP, WFI, clean steam, oil free compressed air, portable CIP skid, double contained lab waste system, and process cooling/heating water system. Laboratory and Office Renovation
This fast-tracked project started design April 11, 2005, and received occupancy on September 30, 2005. The project consisted of design/build services for the renovation of 18,000 sq.ft of existing mixed space.The renovated space included offices, cell culture and strain development areas, cryo labs, stability rooms, chemistry labs, a wash area and a pilot plant.
