Projects Contacts

Serra Sul Iron Ore Project

The Project consisted of conceptual and basic engineering for a new 90 Mtpa beneficiation plant 75 km south of the Carajás mine.  It included a mine, plant, stockyard, loadout station and 100 km of railway to connect to the existing system.Services: Feasibility

Country : Brazil

Diavik Diamond Project

This major diamond mining project is located in the Northwest Territories, 300 km northeast of Yellowknife. Mining the diamonds was only made possible by the construction of the innovative dike structure, which permitted mining by isolating the diamond-bearing kimberlite pipes from the surrounding lake.  The mine's remote permafrost location and the purity of the water in Lac de Gras placed severe environmental constraints on the project.  The award winning innovative design of the dike ensured that there was no environmental damage to the project's ecologically sensitive area.  The scope of work included the process plant, all infrastructure and geotechnical engineering for the dike. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Services: Feasibility, EPCM

Country : Canada

Alto Norte Copper Project

This project was a smelter expansion mandate that included replacing the reverbatory furnace with a Noranda type fusion reactor and increasing the smelter's capacity from 420,000 to 826,000 tpa refined copper.  Services: EPCM

Country : Chile

Kittila (Suurikuusikko) Gold Project

In 2005, Agnico Eagle retained us to assist in the development of the Kittila gold deposit approximately 1000 km north of Helsinki Finland. The refractory ore requires oxidation prior to cyanide leaching and capacity is planned at 1.0 Mtpa. Our scope of work included a primary crusher, conveyors and crushed ore storage; a SAG mill, pressure oxidation and carbon-in-leach circuit; and electrowinning and refining.  Work is ongoing.Services: Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, EP

Country : Finland

Ambatovy Nickel Project

In 2004, we were retained by Dynatec Corporation to assist in the completion of a feasibility study on its nickel laterite project in east-central Madagascar, about 130 km east of the capital city, Antananarivo. Following completion of the feasibility study in 2004, we were retained to provide EPCM services. The project is currently planned to produce 60,000 t/a nickel and 5,000 t/a cobalt over a mine life of 20+ years. Open pit mining and ore transport via a 260 km slurry pipeline to a HPAL and SX/EW processing plant on the east coast is envisaged.  Construction is now ongoing.Services: Feasibility, EPCM

Country : Madagascar

Kemess South Copper-Gold Project

This large porphyry copper and gold project is located in the Toodoggone region of north-central British Columbia. The deposit contains 4.1 million ounces of gold and 990 million pounds of copper. The project uses conventional mining and large-scale electric shovels and haulage trucks. The mill utilizes two lines of SAG (semi autogenous grinding) and ball mills grinding 45,000 tonnes/day, conventional cells and column flotation with average annual production of 58 million pounds of copper, 213,000 ounces of gold, and 170,000 ounces of silver. The process flowsheet includes crushing, grinding, gravity concentration, flotation, cleaning, concentrate storage and loadout. SNC-Lavalin's mandate includes the access road, process plant, administration building, electrical sub-station and site distribution. Client: Royal Oak Mines (USA) Inc.
