SNC-Lavalin has successfully completed numerous grassroots facilities, as well as plant expansion, modernization and revamp projects, where it focuses on process automation and controls, utility upgrades, production optimization, plant re-tooling and energy efficiency improvements.

SNC-Lavalin has considerable experience with various contracting approaches including EPCM services, EPC, lump-sum turnkey and design-build, and it maintains specialized expertise to address various industrial plant requirements including material handling, dust control, machinery design, filling and packaging lines, clean room design, and validation.

Sulphuric Acid Plant

SNC-Lavalin was chosen on February 7, 1995 after an international call for tenders to carry out EPC services for a 2,130 toone/day double absorption metallurgical gas acid plant on a turnkey basis. The key element in winning the project was a commitment to a very tight schedule. Mexicana required that the plant be ready for operation by October 5, 1996, only 19 months from the order date to startup. Our commitment was reinforced by Mexicana's experience with their first acid plant. The second largest plant in Latin America for acid production was successfully started up on time. After the performance test work was completed within the first month, the owner accepted the plant and is now operating it over the expected capacity. Client: Mexicana de Cobre S.A.

Placoplatre's Gypsum Panel Production Site

We are supervising design and providing project management services at Placoplatre's gypsum panel production site in Vaujours, France. We demolished a 40,000 m2 plant and are building new buildings over an area of 75,000 m2, including a production line that ranks among the most efficient in the world. The refurbished site will be one of the world's largest gypsum panel plants, built to High Environmental Quality Standards to ensure harmonious integration with the environment and proper water management. Verrerie du Languedoc Expansion Project

The Verrerie du Languedoc (VDL) near NÓmes, France produces 600 million glass bottles/yr, mostly for Perrier and San Pellegrino. VDL hired us to manage its expansion project, which involved adapting an existing oven, utility networks and other infrastructure to handle more capacity and a new production line. Assembly Building for A380 Planes

Construction of the "ComŤte II " equipment and control bay for the fuselage forward sections of  the Airbus A380. Basic engineering of the gas pipeline and for the pumping stations pertaining to the project GK-3 Hassi R'mel-Skikda - el Kala, in Algeria

Scope: Basic engineering and execution of the gas pipeline and compressor station as well as hydraulic and viability studies of the infrastructure. The scope included the preparation of the documents for the construction of the oil pipeline and pumping stations tender in Turnkey mode. The construction budget is over: 700.000.000 EUR. North American Catamenial Consolidation Project

SNC-Lavalin has enjoyed a long-standing continuing services agreement with Procter & Gamble (P&G) for projects including engineering, procurement, construction management and commissioning.  The North American Centennial Consolidation (NACC) Project was a major expansion of P&G's Belleville facility executed on a fast-track schedule that included building new product lines, relocation of systems and offices, and upgrading plant utilities.  SNC-Lavalin has been working closely with Procter & Gamble since 1992.

Continuing Services for Cameco Port Hope Uranium Conversion Facility

Under a continuing services agreement, SNC-Lavalin provides scope definition, cost estimating, engineering, procurement, expediting, construction supervision and overall project management services (EPCM) for the execution of an extensive ongoing work program at Cameco's uranium conversion facility in Port Hope, Ontario.  Activities include hundreds of ongoing major and minor capital projects, and support of comprehensive maintenance support requirements.  To undertake multi-disciplinary work packages, SNC-Lavalin has a sizeable team of engineering and construction personnel and specialists located both at the facility and in the the E&I division's Toronto area offices.

Duoline Technologies

SNC-Lavalin was engaged to develop a front-end engineering design (FEED) to replace an existing plant in Odessa, Texas with a new modern facility to be located in Gilmer, Texas.  The new plant manufactures fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) tubes that act as a protective lining for down-hole tubular piping used for oil and gas extraction.  Lengths of FRP tubes manufactured range from 25 feet to 42 feet, with diameters ranging from 2 inches to 24 inches. The new plant was designed to use the latest technology for handling, winding, and curing the manufactured FRP tubes and a high degree of automation was integrated into the system design.  Services also included vendor selection support, in addition to detailed engineering, procurement support, and construction management.

Interconnection between the 5th LNG tank and the Huelva Plant and electricity generation unit

Our mission consisted in interconnecting the 5th LNG tank (150,000 m3) at the ENAGAS regasification plant in Huelva with the existing installations and extending the boil-off management system, including the installation of a new compression system, a re-liquefier and a torch. A 14 m-deep culvert was built for the project. The project also included the extension of the electrical, control and fire prevention systems. An electric generator plant that made use of the cold produced by the LNG was installed, thus improving environmental conditions. Client: ENAGAS

Denia Compression Station

The Industrial team carried out the EPCM project for the Denia compression plant.This station connects the Balearic Islands with the Iberian Peninsula. A particular characteristic of this compression station is the 220 bar output pressure, and the possibility of the machines working in series or in parallel. From the point of view of civil engineering, the station's location in an area of expansive clay is noteworthy; the foundation calculations and construction execution were conditioned by this factor.
