SNC-Lavalin Academy

Employees: SNC-Lavalin Academy

The SNC-Lavalin Academy is one of the most important pillars of our people development strategy. The Academy is designed to:

  • address our corporate-wide development needs
  • develop key competencies
  • create an environment that promotes networking, best practices, alignment and synergies
Three learning streams

The Academy offers a series of courses that are linked to four key strategic priorities:

  • project management
  • corporate excellence
  • leadership development
  • business development and sales excellence

Each learning stream consists of courses delivered in the classroom, through e-learning modules or a combination of both. Courses range from half-hour e-learning modules, to week-long sessions and year-long professional certification programs. Some courses are open to employees across the company while others are reserved for specific groups.

Superior instruction

The Academy is steered by a faculty of SNC-Lavalin subject matter experts. We’ve also built partnerships with top global learning organizations, including ESI International. ESI International is the world’s largest and most established project performance improvement organization.

First-class instruction ensures the quality of delivery and promotes various learning strategies. Programs are piloted and undergo continuous improvement following employee feedback. They also offer a unique opportunity for sharing experiences with people from all over the world. Courses are delivered in four languages: English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Key programs

In 2014, the Academy continued to extend its reach to employees in all four corners of the globe. Some highlights included:

  • People Leaders Development Program (PLDP)
This program focuses on developing competencies in personal, team and organizational leadership. In 2014, more than 560 employees attended the PLDP training in Canada, the US, Colombia, Brazil, France, Belgium, the UK and Bahrain.
  • Project Management Development Program (PMDP)
This program strengthens our project managers’ execution and delivery capabilities as well as promotes best practices across our organization. It also helps project managers obtain George Washington Certified Project Manager (GWCPM) certification, as well as PMP® certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

In 2014, we piloted seven project management courses. The PMDP also welcomed its first seven graduates. Overall, 148 project managers were trained in 2014.

Learning Management System

In 2014, the launch of our global Learning Management System (LMS) made learning easier than ever. Employees worldwide can now access more than 300 online videos and courses–content that’s available when and where it’s convenient for them.

In January 2015, employees had completed more than 4,000 online courses using the LMS since its launch.
