Kearl Oil Sands Project

Through the experience gained operating on Sakhalin Island, located just off the west coast of Russia, Kentz, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has established a strong track record for delivering construction and technical services in the challenging Arctic conditions. It is through this demonstrable capability that our operations extended to Canada and the Kearl Oil Sands Project based in the Kearl Lake region in Northern Alberta.

Canada’s largest oil sands deposit

Awarded by PCL Industrial Management, Kearl Oil Sands is Canada’s largest oil sands deposit with an estimated 4.6 billion barrels of recoverable bitumen resource. It is being developed by Imperial Oil (70%) and ExxonMobil Canada (30%).

Kentz’s scope of work includes the Installation and Procurement of Bulk Materials for the electrical, instrumentation and telecommunications work on site for the utilities area. This contract follows the award in May 2009 of a contract to provide the engineering and procurement services for the site-wide telecommunications systems. The latest Kentz team mobilised on site in May 2010 and its people remained on site to support the client for two years.

Construction Capabilities

Kentz, a Member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has the ability to deliver time critical and highly technical services for clients on a global level distinguishes us from most of our peers. The risk in many projects lies with the physical construction of the asset and Kentz has its own construction workforce that has developed the process skills, management tools and sector experience to successfully complete these projects.

The provision of services to energy and resource companies leads Kentz to remote and challenging locations. Kentz’s success in providing high quality construction services in such difficult locations has allowed us to develop an extensive track record as being one of the few global construction contractors with the capability to deliver high quality projects for its clients.
