SNC-Lavalin (TSX:SNC) is pleased to announce that Craig Muir will be succeeding Christian Brown as President, Oil & Gas, effective April 2019. Based in the United Arab Emirates, Craig will report directly to Neil Bruce, President and Chief Executive Officer, and join the Executive Committee.
“I am very excited about the appointment of Craig Muir,” said Neil Bruce. “Craig is an industry veteran with a proven track record of successes, and will provide a smooth transition from the achievements realized under Christian Brown’s leadership of our Oil & Gas sector. Our focus in 2019 is on global growth and Craig is fully aligned with our strategic goals, ready to tackle new challenges when he joins us in the coming months.”
Craig Muir joins SNC-Lavalin from Petrofac where he is currently the group’s Chief Commercial Officer and a member of their Executive Committee. He has over 30 years of experience in the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry, working in many international locations from the UK through the Middle East, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Far East. He has been responsible for the leadership, management and delivery of major projects, deployment of effective operations and development of medium and large businesses into new service sectors and geographies.
Prior to his commercial role, he headed up Petrofac’s Engineering and Consulting Services business, where he was accountable for the delivery, performance, strategic growth and development of all reimbursable services. This covered EPCM project delivery, project management, engineering, brownfield operation & maintenance, duty holder, asset management, well management, and training and competence. Prior to Petrofac, Craig spent seven years with AMEC, latterly as their Executive Vice President for the Middle East, Africa and CIS. His early career was spent with KBR, Brown & Root and AOC. He has an MBA from the University of Strathclyde and background in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
Christian Brown joined SNC-Lavalin in 2014 at the time of the acquisition of Kentz, where he was the Chief Executive Officer. He moved into a corporate development role to lead the acquisition of WS Atkins plc, before stepping back into the President of Oil & Gas role to bring more focus to business development and client execution and delivery. Chris will remain with SNC-Lavalin until the summer of 2019 in order to ensure a smooth and orderly transition with Craig Muir.
“I would like to thank Christian for his contributions to SNC-Lavalin and all he has achieved for us over the past five years, which include the successful acquisitions of Kentz and Atkins, as well as successfully leading the Oil & Gas sector during an industry downturn,” concluded Neil Bruce. “I especially thank Christian for stepping back into the Oil & Gas role over the past year and a half, and ensuring the transition to new leadership.”
