This past Saturday, SNC-Lavalin celebrated a historic moment for the health sector—the official inauguration of the new leading-edge hospital built on the MUHC Glen site in Montreal.

Close to 130 of our employees joined us for the Walk for Montreal! event, proudly wearing SNC Lavalin shirts to walk the 3.5 kilometres from Dawson College to the MUHC Glen site, together with thousands of Montrealers. Once on site, many of our volunteers were at the SNC Lavalin booth to discuss project highlights and serve ice cream to everyone who came by.

About the MUHC Glen site project

Construction began on the complex—one of the largest hospital projects in Canada—in July 2010. Built to meet environmental and quality standards for LEED® Silver certification, the project included sustainable initiatives to enhance energy efficiency, air quality, water consumption, waste reduction and recycling, as well as other aspects.

The Glen site complex includes 500 private patient rooms, two emergency departments and more than 50 specialized departments. With custom-designed facilities, cutting-edge equipment and calm, soothing environment, the hospital pushes the envelope in terms of health care and healing innovation. It will be the new home for the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal Chest Institute, as well as the new Cedars Cancer Centre and the Research Institute of the MUHC.

SNC Lavalin is proud to have played a crucial role in the design and construction of this high-calibre establishment that is expected to attract world-class health professionals to the Glen site.
