I look forward to showcasing our Global Training and Simulation (GTS) solution at SNC-Lavalin’s stand C145 in Hall 4 at Gastech in Singapore this month.
The highly immersive and realistic simulator is used for three main areas of application: operations, maintenance and inspection training. It allows operators to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the site, as well as simulating real-life emergency and operational procedure situations. It not only helps reduce human error and improve productivity, it also reduces costs and improves health and safety performance for our clients, so it provides a win-win situation.
This solution can be used to train field operators before they are deployed to site. The FieldOp3D immersive training simulator allows us to reproduce both visual and sound effects that immerse users in an accurate 3D site representation – complete with day or night mode and weather conditions – at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.
The FieldOp3D is highly customizable to each site and can be operated by mouse, keyboard or Xbox controller, making it a fun and easy-to-use tool that motivates employees. It can be deployed on single or multiple screens, projectors, virtual reality headsets or an igloo 360 degree view cylinder. The system can also be linked to Honeywell’s OTS platform UniSim, which allows the training control room and field operator to train together, leading to improved communication and teamwork skills. Training can also be accelerated when the plant is in construction or in a dangerous or remote location.
About Global Training Solutions
Our GTS department houses experts in industrial training; we design, develop and deploy training programs for operations and maintenance personnel. Our comprehensive and integrated suite of end-to-end training solutions cover all critical aspects of plant operations and maintenance, including health and safety, troubleshooting, process control, normal operation and upsets. Our multi-disciplinary team includes instructional designers, engineers, simulation experts, technical writers, and 3D and video multimedia experts. Since 1996, we have facilitated over 100 training projects worldwide for the mining and metallurgy, power, and oil and gas industries.
We identify the skills and competencies required for each position and develop suitable training that includes theory, safe practice and on-the-job learning. Our trainees learn through a variety of mediums including: in-classroom training, interactive e-learning courses, professional-grade video productions, operator training simulator and the FieldOp3D immersive training simulator.
I will be hosting interactive demonstrations of our FieldOp3D software at Gastech. Feel free to drop by and ask any questions you may have, or you can find further information on our simulation software at http://www.snclavalin.com/gastech2015.
