SNC-Lavalin supports youth success with United Way

October 16, 2018 Canada

We have been a longstanding supporter of United Way for nearly 30 years, thanks to the generous contributions made by our employees. The United Way/Centraide Canada is a non-profit organization that raises funds across Canada for local groups addressing community issues such as unemployment, affordable housing and shelters.

During 2017, we raised $682,000 to support social programs and community initiatives.  For 2018, we chose to “support youth success” as a theme as it aligns with one of SNC-Lavalin’s key philanthropic pillars: education.  In Canada, too many families still lack the resources and support to provide their children with the right conditions and tools to develop both intellectually and socially. Too many children lack the necessary resources and aren’t adequately prepared when they start school. As a result, they may experience difficulty learning and fitting in throughout their educational careers. Too many teenagers drop out of school and risk facing a life of low wages and job insecurity. These vulnerable individuals risk getting caught up in a cycle of poverty that can affect their children as well.

SNC-Lavalin is proud to support United Way to help local charities and agencies provide services that stimulate early childhood development, encourage children to stay in school, prevent youth homelessness and support parents and families in need.
