The Technician Development Scheme is a three-year structured programme comprised of four elements:
Gaining internationally recognised engineering qualifications
Completing further education engineering courses on a part-time basis, leading to an accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Gaining practical work-based engineering experience
Completing work under the direction and guidance of experienced engineers.
Gaining a wider understanding of the railway transportation industry and the business’s role within the transport sector
Undertaking external placements within a train maintenance/overhaul facility, train operating company and train or equipment manufacturer.
Gaining professional registration
Initially gaining Engineering Technician (EngTech) following on to Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the possibility of continuing this professional development and completing an MSc qualification to gain Chartered Engineer Status.
