Our Electrification and Plant engineering team is familiar with the challenges of providing traction power across various rail modes and environments.
Our team works at all phases from concept development through to detailed design and is familiar with overhead line equipment (OLE) catenary systems, various AC and DC forms of traction power, trackside distribution including SCADA, cable route design, and trackside plant and equipment.
We have the capability to design the full traction power system from power source to rolling stock including the distribution system. Our mechanical and electrical designers, supported by a specialized civil engineering team, can design all the elements of the traction power system.
Our experience ranges from working with existing infrastructure to achieve system upgrades in situ, to entire new system design and installations including the latest OLE catenary system from Furrer+Frey (Series I) using the proprietary ELLF software.
We have worked on metro and suburban networks with a DC power/3rd rail system; tram systems with OLE catenary; heavy and high speed rail with OLE catenary – both existing and new build; new build and existing depots with both AC and DC systems; power distribution networks including a particular specialism in SCADA and; trackside plant and equipment.
