President, Oil & Gas
Christian (Chris) Brown is President of SNC-Lavalin’s global Oil & Gas sector, the company’s largest business, with 20,000 employees and activities throughout the world.
Mr. Brown joined SNC-Lavalin in 2014, when the company acquired Kentz Corporation, where he was Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. He led the Kentz integration and the ongoing success of the Oil & Gas sector during a challenging economic period for the industry.
Following a move to a new role as Corporate Development Officer, where he was responsible for Business Development cross-selling, driving the company’s Operational Excellence approach and managing major merger and acquisitions, such as Atkins, he returned to lead the Oil & Gas sector in 2017.
With over 20 years of experience in the liquefied natural gas (LNG), oil and gas, refining and petrochemicals industries, Mr. Brown has world-class expertise in managing a large-revenue, high-growth engineering business, as well as extensive project experience at some of the world’s largest natural resource companies. Over the course of his career, he has worked in all corners of the globe, with considerable time spent across the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Mr. Brown joined Kentz in 2011 as Group Chief Operating Officer, and went on to sponsor Australasia’s largest LNG project. Prior to joining Kentz, he worked at Foster Wheeler, where he held several positions including Managing Director of Global Sales, Strategy and Marketing, and Senior Vice-President, Operations, USA. He also spent 17 years at Kellogg Brown and Root, where he held roles such as Director and General Manager for Construction, Africa, Middle East & APAC; and President of KBR’s Canadian Operations.
Mr. Brown earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Hull and a Master’s in Business Administration from Henley Management College. He also completed the Halliburton Presidents Leadership Excellence Program. He is a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council, a Member of the Association for Project Management and a Fellow of the Institution of Plant Engineers.
