James Smith First Nations/ SNC-Lavalin/ Peter Kiewit & Sons MOU Committee

The James Smith First Nation, SNC-Lavalin and Peter Kiewit have formed an alliance to explore the feasibility of jointly developing a hydro electric project on the Saskatchewan River in or near James Smith First Nations territory. Saskatchewan Power has expressed an interested in receiving a proposal to develop new capacity (max 100 MW) with a new generating station on the Saskatchewan River, west of the existing Nipawin dam. The Alliance is currently completing Phase I of the project which involves completion of a Pre-Feasibility Study. The James Smit First Nation traditional lands have diamond development potential.
